The Analog Sound AS-137N brings valve magic to speakers that have long been the domain of big solid-state amplifiers. Four Tung-Sol KT170 in push-pull deliver 60 watts per channel in triode mode or 120 watts in ultra-linear mode, selectable at the flick of a switch, giving you the choice between a relaxed, richly textured presentation and full-scale power for low-sensitivity loudspeakers.

True to Line Magnetic's Western Electric heritage, the signal passes through WE-style 618 input transformers and 171A output transformers, with a preamplifier stage built on 1960s European NOS valves, a 6SH7 and 6SN7 driver stage, and a WE-style 307A power transformer backed by a valve-regulated supply. The result is an amplifier that combines authority and control with the warmth, elasticity and midrange depth that only valves provide: in review it drove the notoriously demanding ATC SCM-20 with ease, delivering deep, fast bass, precise imaging and uncompressed dynamics.

Front panel bypass switch for input transformer: This switch allows you to choose whether the signal passes through the input transformer. In the "Trans" position, where the signal goes through the transformer, the sound stage’s mid and low frequencies are broadened, delivering a warmer, more “tube-like” sound. In the "bypass" position, where the transformer is bypassed, the amplifier delivers faster response, greater impact, and a wider sound stage, particularly enhancing the experience of large-scale symphonic music.
